Cagliari Calcio - Frosinone

After a strong start, Cagliari are now among Serie A’s most out-of-form sides, and face a tough challenge here as they host surprise package Frosinone, who have taken the division by storm following promotion.

Match News and Current Form

Cagliari’s 2-1 defeat to leaders Lazio last weekend would not be a cause for concern in isolation, but they are now winless in five (D1, L4), losing each of their last four. The Islanders last lost five in a row in Serie A in April 2022, and with head coach Fabio Pisacane admitting his side’s “self-belief” has been dented by their slump, he’ll be especially grateful for a bright start to the campaign which means they’re still six points above the relegation zone pre-round. The chances of a revival here appear slim though, with Cagliari losing four of their last seven league games against newly-promoted sides (W1, D2) and having scored just two home league goals this term (W1, D1, L2).

Frosinone chalked up a sixth league win of the season (D2, L2) as they toppled Torino 2-0 last weekend, and have now only been beaten once since the opening day. The Canaries’ three previous seasons in Serie A have all ended in relegation, but they occupy a European qualification spot pre-round so appear primed to finally survive a top-flight season this time around. While safety remains the objective for Massimiliano Alvini’s side, suffering just one defeat on the road in the league this term (W1, D2) means they may well fancy their chances of achieving a third successive Serie A win for the first time ever here!

Head-to-Head History

Frosinone have won just one of the prior four Serie A H2Hs (D1, L2), losing both top-flight visits to Unipol Domus.

Betting Analysis

The hosts battled well last week and given that the visitors are in uncharted territory, a Cagliari win may offer value.
