Spain - Czech Republic

The Czech Republic are the next nation to not only try and topple Spain’s world record unbeaten run, but also prevent them running away with UEFA Nations League (UNL) Group A3.

Match News and Current Form

There’s no stopping Spain at present, as after wins against England and most recently Croatia in their first two UNL outings, their unbeaten run inside 90 minutes now stands at a whopping 40 matches (W30, D10)! Stopping a side who last lost in the UNL inside 90 minutes in September 2022 is going to be tricky for any opponent, and that defeat to Switzerland incredibly remains the only home defeat they’ve fallen to since October 2018. They now return to Oviedo for the first time in 11 years bidding to extend that run, with five victories from seven previous internationals here (D1, L1) serving as yet another positive omen for the rampant Spaniards.

The Czech Republic face the unenviable task of trying to stop Spain, and they do so with some rotten form behind them after losing their opening two UNL games. The most worrying aspect for the Czechs, who are now staring down the barrel of an instant return to League B, is that both defeats came at home, leaving them to play three of their final four Group A3 fixtures on the road. Sharing a group with three top-15 FIFA-ranked nations laid down a huge gauntlet for them, and it looks like one they’re likely to fall foul of, particularly given that they’re now winless inside 90 minutes in seven competitive games in 2026 (D3, L4).

Head-to-Head History

Spain are unbeaten across seven previous H2Hs (W5, D2), winning all three meetings they’ve hosted.

Hot Stats and Streaks

Spain have scored first in nine successive matches, doing so inside two minutes of their last two.

Five of the six goals Spain conceded in 2026 came in the first half.

Czech Republic conceded 2+ goals in four of their last five internationals.

Czech Republic conceded their last ten goals after half-time.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Lamine Yamal has scored in the second minute of Spain’s two UNL games so far, but don’t rule him out after the break either as six of his seven scoring appearances for club or country this season saw him net after half-time. A goal from Czech Republic's Adam Hložek could be conducive to a high-scoring affair as his 17 scoring appearances for club or country since the start of the 2023/24 season averaged over five goals per game!

Spain look to boast a clean bill of health, but Czech Republic will be without the suspended Pavel Šulc and potentially Adam Karabec too after his injury against England.

Betting Analysis

The Czechs concede at an alarming rate after the break, hinting there could be value in backing Spain to score 2+ second-half goals.
